The York Lions Club was chartered in 1953 and has provided four District
Governors to the District; and multiple Zone and Region Chairs.
Our current major projects include our annual White Cane drives (twice a year) and
our 10 Mile and 5K Races (Battlefield Race for Sight. We also have our planned
Blind Made Products (Brooms) sales and our annual Blind Fishing Trip for the Penninsula..
Our next major scheduled project is hosting our Bland Music Contest in February. A Blind Fishing Trip in August 2012 and a 10 mile Battlefield Run for Sight in November 2012 at the Yorktown Battlefield are also planned.
Eyeglass Recycling:
We have eyeglass pickup boxes at Walmart, York Food Lions-Patriot and Washington Square, Dr Guhl's office, Goodwill Store-Washington Square, Office of Dr Kent McQuain, St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, St Luke's United Methodist Church, Yorkminster Presbyterian Church and Roses. Other locations such as the York County Public Libraries have pickup boxes.
